Jane SullivanI am a 1986 graduate of Iroquois. While in school, I was a cheerleader, a member of the drama club, and wrote for the school newspaper. I graduated from Syracuse University in 1990 with a BA in English, and I earned an MS in Reading Education from Canisius College in 1992.
I taught reading at Starpoint Central School from 1992 to 1997, when I moved to Laredo, Texas for my husband's employment. While in Laredo, I was Interim Director of Educational Activities at the Laredo Children's museum in 1999. In 2003, I began teaching writing at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a position I held until we moved back to Elma in 2010.
I am currently employed at Buffalo State College as an adjunct writing instructor and am the Lifestyles Editor at the East Aurora Advertiser and Elma Review. I have also continued teaching online at TAMIU as needed for the past three years.
It was while attending Canisius that I met my husband, Jonathan Sullivan. Together, we are raising four children. The oldest, a daughter, graduated from Iroquois in June 2015 and attends Manhattan College. Our other three children are triplets in the high school. Through the many activities in which my children participate, I see many aspects of how the district components cooperate.
This is an interesting time in education, and I am happy participating in making the decisions that help create a purposeful and rewarding education for the children in our community.
