  • How to Convert a Document to a PDF File

    Portable Document Format (PDF) is the standard for the secure and reliable distribution and exchange of electronic documents and forms.  Faculty and staff are encouraged to convert their Microsoft Office documents to PDF files for their Web pages.  This conversion is recommended for two reasons:
    1.)  People viewing the Web site may not have the software loaded on their computers to view Microsoft Office documents (e.g. not everyone has Publisher).  PDF files are viewable by Adobe Acrobat Reader, a free downloadable product from the Internet.
    2.)  Microsoft Office documents, unlike PDF files, can be easily modified, which are subject to copyright and security concerns.
