Welcome to kindergarten!! I am sure you are excited and anxious for your child to start school. I am eager to meet everyone and am looking forward to having a wonderful year together! Here are a few notes to get the year started.
We will have outdoor recess every day (weather permitting) for about a half hour. Sneakers should be worn every day to school. Sneakers MUST be worn on the playground and during P.E.. If your child does not have sneakers for these times, he or she will not be able to participate. Please practice tying shoes at home.
We will have snack every day. Children are responsible for their own healthy snack and drink. Please make sure your child knows the difference between his or her lunch and snack. Healthy snacks are preferred, such as yogurt, fruits or veggies, pretzels, crackers etc. Please keep snacks separate from lunch.
If your child is buying a lunch, please talk to them about what they are going to order before they come to school. Pre-paid lunches are available. On the district website under the Services tab, click on Food Services. There you will find all the info you need to set up a My Schoolbucks account. You will need your child’s student ID to do this which you will receive at at the meet and greet. Keep in mind your child will only have about 25-30 minutes to unpack, eat and clean up during lunch time. (For the first few weeks it would be very helpful if you could please jot down a little note and put it in your child’s take home folder or email me before school if they are going to be buying a lunch.
Student ID #
Kids will need to have a water bottle sent in every day. Please ONLY put water in them. They can fill them at school at our sink when they need a refill. Please send water bottle in a labeled zip lock bag. No matter how carefully you put the straw in or tighten that sucker up, it will find a way to leak at some point getting everything inside the bag wet. Please put your child’s name on his or her water bottle.
On our supply list we asked for an extra set of clothing. As the weather gets colder please consider sending in clothing for the season (also the kids grow like weeds and may not fit in what you sent in at the beginning of the year.) I can swap it out for you.
Please have your child wear their frog bus tag every day for the first month of school. This will help make sure your child gets to the correct classroom in the morning and on the correct bus in the afternoon. Practicing the afternoon bus number on the front of the tag will be very helpful to your child in locating his or her bus during dismissal time. (Given out a the Meet and Greet.)
Bus drop off procedure
Your child’s bus driver will not drop off your child until he or she has visual confirmation that someone is waiting for your child.
Notes from home
If you plan on picking your child up from school a written note must be given to me when your child arrives at school. Please put all notes from home in your child’s take-home folder. Take home folders will be provided for your child. They will likely come home on your child’s first day of school!
Please EMPTY your child’s take-home folder EVERY NIGHT! I will check for notes from home every morning. Please make sure folders are sent back to school every day your child attends. (In the event you need to send in a note on the first day please put it in an envelope with my name on it and put in the main part of your child’s backpack or send me and email ).
Thanks so much for all your help and cooperation. There will probably be a lot more information to share soon. There will be a parent open house in the coming weeks. More info to come. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns! I cannot wait to see your children and get this year started. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your summer!
