    What is a quarterly exam?
    This year you will be taking an exam at the end of the first and second marking period that will count for 10% of your math grade. This exam will contain questions and problems from all of the lessons that have been taught up to that point of the year.  This is where you can find review games from class as well as answer key's for the quarterly review sheets too.
     
    What is on the first quarter exam?
    The first quarterly will be on Novemeber 5th and 6th.  It is a two part test.  On November 5th will be a multiple choice test.  On November 6th it will be all constructed response questions where showing your work will be the key to getting a good grade.
     
    Topics the first quarterly will include:
    • all decimal operations (+, - , * , and /)
    • gcf and lcm
    • identifying positive & negative integers
    • multiplying fractions
    • dividing fractions
    • converting improper fractions to mixed numbers (and mixed numbers to improper fractions)
    • putting positive and negfative integers in order
    • absolute value
    • opposite numbers
    • ordering numbers on a number line, given a word problem

     

     
     
     
    What is on the second quarter exam (Midterm)?
    The second quarterly will be on January 23rd and 24th. It is a two part test.  On January 23rd it will be all constructed response questions where showing your work will be the key to getting a good grade.  On January 24th will be the multiple choice questions on castle learning.
    • Coordinate Plane (plotting points, naming coordinates, distance between points, & reflections)
    • Exponents
    • Order of Operations
    • Substitutions
    • Translations (Expression vs. Equation)
    • Distributive Property
    • Solving Equations
    • In addition to these concepts/topics you need to be aware that concepts/topics from the first quarterly exam are also going to appear on this exam. The majority of the exam will be questions that require skills learned in the second quarter but there will be a few questions that will assess your skills from the first marking period as well.
