Welcome to KINDERGARTEN!
Below is some information you might find helpful before the school year begins...Bus TagsPlease have your child wear their apple bus tag to school every day for the first couple months until they know, and feel comfortable boarding their afternoon bus. They need to memorize their afternoon bus number that is written on their apple bus tag. Remind them that they need to look for the number located on a black box on the side of the bus (to the left of the bus door).Bus drivers will NOT drop off your child until they have a visual confirmation that someone is home. Please wait by the door or in the driveway for your child to be dropped off so you can signal to the driver.
Take-Home FolderYour child will bring home a folder every night. Please empty it each night and talk about your child’s work with them. Keep an eye out for homework, or anything that needs to be practiced again at home. Please remember to send the folder back to school with your child the next day. Any notes for me or for the office can be placed in their Take-Home folder.
SnackPlease send in a healthy snack with your child to eat at snack time every day. Make sure they know the difference between their lunch and their snack. Also, sending in an extra juice box or refillable water bottle for your child to have with their snack would be appreciated as well.
Lunch (& Breakfast)If your child plans on buying lunch, I highly recommend pre-paying. It is easier for most children, and it alleviates the possibility of searching for lost money. However, you are more than welcome to send your child to school with money for lunch. Please make sure you send any money in an envelope or small change purse clearly labeled with your child’s name on it.If you pre-pay, you may pay online by accessing your child's "School Bucks" account. If you choose to write a check to pre-pay for your child's meals, please write a check payable to "Iroquois Central School". You will receive a notice when your child's pre-paid account is running low so you may replenish it.
SneakersIt is highly encouraged to send your child to school in sneakers every day. We will be doing various activities throughout the year where sneakers will be appropriate and much safer than shoes or sandals. Sneakers MUST be worn at all times during Physical Education class as well as on the playground. If you child does not have sneakers for these times, they may not be able to participate in the activities. There will be a Parent Orientation/Open House later on in September where you will be invited to the classroom to hear more about what your child will be learning in Kindergarten. All other informational material will be addressed at that time.
