Student Athlete of the Week
Week of March 25th - March 31st
Senior Emily Gordon
Emily Gordon has been on the varsity for 3 years. She is a 3 sport scholar athlete and co captain of our team. She averages 8 points a game while shooting 45 % from the field. She also averages 8 rebounds and 2 blocks a game. Emily just received the Gold Award, which is the most prestigious award that a girl scout can achieve.
Week of March 18th - March 24th
Iroquois Athlete of the Week – Ty Moran
Ty Moran scored a Hat-trick in the 3rd period of our 6-2 win over Sweet Home.
Week of March 11th - March 17th
Mitch Carlson – Senior and Sam Staerker – Junior – Boys Ice Hockey
Senior Mitch Carlson and Junior Sam Staerker both are tied with 19 points and are both second in the league overall in scoring with 19 points. Sr. Mitch Carlson has 12 goals and 7 assists and Jr. Sam Staerker has 6 goals and 13 assists to lead the team to a 7-2 record heading into the last two weeks of the season.
Liam Derck – Boys Varsity Swimming – Senior Captain
Liam has 13 1st place finishes out of 14 swims and has been a great example setter in practice and at meets. He is a quiet leader who is respectful and just does the right things day in and day out to be the best. He is a great young man with an outstanding work ethic and drive to be the best.
Week of March 4th - March 10th
Girls Bowling Team
The Iroquois Girls Bowling Team received their first win of the season against West Seneca West in mid-February. This win is special as it is a testament to their hard work and dedication which has led to their first win since 2016.
Trey Kleitz – Junior
Trey is a 4 year varsity starter and serving his second year as a captain. So far this year the team is 3-1 3-0 in ECIC 3 Trey is averaging 27pts 8 asts and 8 steals per game. He is also the QB on the Iroquois football team.
Week of February 25 - March 3
Emily McLaughlin – Girls Varsity Basketball – Senior Point Guard
Emily Laughlin helped the Iroquois Varsity Lady Chiefs to a 3-0 record this week. Emily averaged 22.7 points per game this week with an amazing shooting percentage of 47%. She also contributed defensively with 20 steals and 20 rebounds. Emily also had 22 assists and only 1 turnover. Emily is a 4 year varsity player and a 3 sport athlete. She is our team captain and last year’s Co-MVP.
Colin Harrington – Boys Federated Ice Hockey – Junior Center
Colin lead the way with two goals and 4 assists, helping lead the team to 2 victories over the past weekend. Lew-Port 7-4 Win - Colin 2 goals 2 assist ........Amherst - 2 assist. 6 points in 2 games!
Week of February 18-24
Allison McNamara – Varsity Rifle – Junior
As co-captain, Allison has worked diligently since before the season started to get her team prepared for the season. She helped make sure equipment was prepared and organized for her fellow athlete. She is currently the top performer on the team as well.
Birch-Herring Jackson -Senior - Boys Bowling – Anchor A Team
Birch currently holds the highest average in the division at 236.33. His high game of 289 is the best in the division and his 720 set is the second best in the division. As a captain of the team and a 5 year Varsity starter, Birch is motivated and driven to do his best each and every week. Birch is not only a leader on the team but he is also driven to make an impact in the school. As Vice President of Student Government Birch goes out of his way to make sure the total student experience at Iroquois is a position one.
