Dear Iroquois Family,

Good afternoon, here is important information for the week of May 27th:

 

Board of Education News
📢 Thank You for Supporting the Budget Vote!
We are incredibly grateful to our amazing community for voting in support of this year’s school budget. Your support plays a vital role in shaping the future of our district and helping us provide the best possible education for our students.
Thank you also to everyone who completed the exit survey—your feedback is important to us. The results are currently being compiled and will be shared in a report to the Board of Education.

 

For Parents to Know

🏅 Wales Primary Playground Recognized Nationally!
We’re proud to share that the Butterfly Athletic Park playground at Wales Primary has been ranked #6 on the list of “10 Best Inclusive Playgrounds in America” by Soliant Health, a national education staffing agency.
Congratulations to the Wales Primary community and The Butterfly Foundation on this outstanding achievement!

 

🚨 Pre-Prom Safety Awareness Event – Wednesday, May 28
A Pre-Prom educational event will be held tomorrow at approximately 1:00 PM in the high school parking lot near the tennis courts.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Seniors will begin in the auditorium with a presentation from the New York State Police on the dangers of drinking and distracted driving.
  • Students will then move outside for a staged car accident demonstration, featuring emergency response by the Jamison and Elma Fire Departments.
  • First responders will demonstrate vehicle extrication techniques using the jaws of life and will simulate a Mercy Flight helicopter rescue.
  • Mercy Flight is expected to land at 1:45 PM and depart around 2:10 PM.

This important event is designed to raise awareness and promote safety ahead of prom season.

Community Notice: Road Work Advisory
🚧 The Erie County Highway Department has issued the following roadwork alerts, all scheduled to begin June 9 with anticipated completion by August 29 (weather permitting). Work will take place weekdays from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM:

  1. Bullis Rd. from Girdle Rd. to Townline Rd. – Single Lane restriction for utility work.
  2. Girdle Rd. from Bullis Rd. to Rice Rd. – Single Lane restriction for utility work.
  3. Rice Rd. from Girdle Rd. to Schultz Rd – Single Lane restriction for utility work.

Please plan accordingly and use caution when traveling through these areas.

 

Athletics

·         Congratulations to Boys and Girls Track and Field teams for earning ECIC Division 3 Champions. 

·         Girls Varsity Softball moves on to the semifinals today 5/27 at Lakeshore at 5pm. 

·         Boys Varsity Baseball also moves on to the semifinals today 5/27 with a home game at 5pm vs. Williamsville South.

·         Varsity Unified Basketball will also play in their playoff game today 5/27 at Hamburg with 5pm start.

·         Congratulations to all 9 of our varsity spring sports teams for receiving the NYSPHSAA team scholar athlete award for having a 90+ average for 75% or more of the team. 

·         Seniors have until Wednesday this week 5/29 to RSVP for attendance at the Senior Athletic Awards Banquet being held 6/3.
