Superintendent's Message 4/22/2024

Dear Iroquois Family,

Good afternoon, here is important information for the week of April 22nd.

Board of Education

On Saturday, New York State announced the school funding distribution for the 2024-25 school year. The state aid allocated for Iroquois aligns with our earlier estimates presented during the budget work sessions. However, it's essential to note that NYS is underfunding the inflationary rate. Despite this challenge, Iroquois will still provide all academic and extracurricular programs at the same level as this year. The final budget presentation is scheduled for May 14th at 6:30 pm.

The budget vote is May 21st, NOT May 14th as indicated on the District paper calendars. Your participation in this vote is important!  I look forward to seeing you in the Intermediate Gymnasium on that Tuesday.

Mascot News

The District is collaborating with BSN Sports on the ‘Branding Guide’ for the new mascot. The adoption of the new mascot by the Board of Education is planned for the May 14th Board of Education meeting.

For Parents to Know

Please join the High School Character Counts Club Saturday May 11th from 11am-3pm for the 3rd Annual Miles for Mental Health Walk-a-Thon at the Athletic Complex. Special guests include: SPCA Paws for Love, Rural Outreach Center, and Mental Health Advocates. There will also be yoga, dunk tank, and more! We are looking forward to this community-wide event to walk together to build awareness and decrease the negative stigma surrounding mental health. Please reach out to Emily Wojda ewojda@iroquoiscsd.org or Jessica Lewandowski at jlewandowski@iroquoiscsd.org for more information!
