Latest Cyber Trend for Parents to Know
Safety of your children is top priority. The Iroquois SROs attended an FBI training on what law enforcement refers to as “sextortion.” Sextortion is the request for money or other favors in return for not exposing inappropriate pictures. The FBI, along with the Department of Justice (DOJ), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and our Iroquois SROs, want to make sure you are aware of the exponential increase in reports of sextortion. Collecting accurate data will help NYS help school districts better serve their students and families. The survey is always accessible by way of the eSchool Parent Portal. Once you have logged in to the portal click on each student’s ID number to access the survey for that student. The link to the NYS survey questions will be located under the student’s profile information. Please answer the survey questions once annually for each K-12 child in the household.
