1/17/2023 Superintendent's Message

Dear Iroquois Family,

Good afternoon and here is information for you for the week of January 17th .

Board of Education Meeting

 

The Iroquois Board will be meeting tomorrow January 18th at 7:00 pm for their regular monthly meeting.  A very preliminary budget presentation will be given by John Wolski, Business Administrator.  There is still a significant amount of information the District still requires from New York State before any decisions can be made on the budget. 

 

Additionally, the Board will be discussing New York State’s regulation concerning the use of Native American references for school mascots.  The discussion will center on questions developed during their work session.  The questions center on communication with Native American leaders and how those discussions should be conducted.  Please remember we are in a period of listening and learning, so the Board has the information required to make informed decisions.  Iroquois has a dedicated webpage for this information you can access from our homepage. 

 

All board meetings can be attended in person, watched live on our home page or viewed afterwards on video recordings posted to the Iroquois website. 

 

High School Regents and Mid-Term Exams in January

Next week, High School students leave for their senior trip.  I wish each and every student going a safe and enjoyable experience.

Music Department

Our Music Department is hard at work preparing our young musicians for All County auditions that take place in January.  Our district has always enjoyed strong participation in these honors ensembles, and our students are once again working hard to represent Iroquois in the best and proudest way possible!
