1/23/2023 Superintendent's Message

Dear Iroquois Family,

Good afternoon and here is important information for you for the week of January 22nd:

Board of Education

The Iroquois Board of Education held its monthly meeting last Wednesday.  The Board continued its discussion on New York State’s proposed regulations concerning the use Native American references for school mascots.  They decided to continue the period of listening and learning by reaching out to the local Native American Nations to meet and learn directly regarding their positions on NYS’s proposed regulations. You can watch the entire discussion here: Iroquois CSD BOE Meeting - Discussion - YouTube

Currently, the proposed regulations are open for public comment.  If you wish to comment, please send your comment directly to James Baldwin, Senior Deputy Director @ james.baldwin@nysed.gov.

Additionally, you can contact our state legislators to make comments:

Music Department

Several of our Senior High musicians, including 28 from Concert Choir, performed their Senior High All County Auditions at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts on Saturday.  These talented students worked so hard for many weeks to prepare, and this particular audition is competitive and difficult!  Results that reveal the selected participants for the ensemble festivals in March will be out in the next few weeks. All of our students did an amazing job representing Iroquois and we are so proud of these outstanding young musicians!

Middle School Performing Arts (Drama Club)

The Middle school Drama Club production of Frozen will be this weekend.  Show times include Friday at 7 pm, Saturday at 2pm and Saturday at 7 pm. I have the inside scoop that this will be one of the most spectacular performances ever. The link below will take you directly to ticket sales.
