4/10/2023 Superintendent's Message

Dear Iroquois Family,

Good afternoon, here is important information for the week of April 10th.

Board of Education

The Iroquois Board of Education will be holding its monthly meeting this week, Wednesday April 12th at 7:00 pm. You can attend in-person or watch it live on the District main webpage www.Iroquoiscsd.org. Some of the topics for discussion are Curriculum Update, Strategic Plan Survey and an update on the NYS Education Indigenous-Native American Regulations.

Petitions for School Board Candidates

The Iroquois Central School District Board of Education is comprised of seven members who are elected to serve a 5-year term. On June 30, 2023, the 5-year terms of Mrs. Sharon Szeglowski and Mrs. Louise Toth will expire. Residents interested in running for the Board may pick up a petition and informational packet from the District Clerk in room #33 of the Intermediate Building. As per Education Law, all prospective candidates must obtain a minimum of 30 valid signatures, which represents two percent of the 2021-2022 total vote count. Qualified candidates must be a resident of the District for at least one year prior to the election, a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age, able to read and write, and not an employee of the district. Petitions must be returned to the office of the District Clerk by 5:00PM on Monday April 17, 2023. This year’s election will be held on May 16, 2023.

High School

The District has confirmed the purchase of a significant number of vape sensors with ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief) Federal funds.  The District will evaluate how effective these devices are and may purchase more in the future.
