5/8/2023 Superintendent's Message
Dear Iroquois Family,
Good afternoon, here is important information for the week of May 8th.
Annual Budget Vote
On Tuesday, May 16th, all qualified residents of the Iroquois Central School District will have the opportunity to vote on the 2023-2024 school budget as well as the Board of Education election. To ensure that individuals have the information they need to make informed decisions, the Budget Hearing will be held tomorrow, May 9th at 6:30 pm in the Middle School. It will be broadcast live on the District website at www.Iroquoiscsd.org . Additionally, the District newsletter is available on our website and includes budget and candidate information. Please call or email if you have any questions. We hope you will take time to vote on May 16th from 7:30 a.m.-9:00 PM in our Intermediate School Gymnasium.
High School
Attention parents of sophomores and juniors: this summer is a perfect time to consider enrolling your child in a professional internship. Benefits include helping to learn more about a career interest, gaining valuable experience, building your network by meeting and talking to the right people, and gaining a competitive advantage by adding this to a resume. The commitment is 54 hours this summer. If interested, contact Jim Whalen at jwhalen@iroquoiscsd.org or send your child to room 195 in the High School.
For Parents to Know
The Iroquois Transportation Department continues their perfect record with annual Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) inspections. Each bus goes through a rigorous scheduled or random inspection by the D.O.T. at least twice each year. The department received a passing rate of 100%. Congratulations and thank you for keeping our students safe!
Music/Drama Club
The Kenny Award Ceremony will be on Saturday, May 27th, at 6:00 pm at Shea’s Performing Arts Center. All are welcome to attend and cheer on our Drama Club students as awards are presented and each school performs a 6-minute number from their show. Tickets are available here: https://am.ticketmaster.com/sheas/buy.
Drama Club is also selling DVDs and streaming links for SpongeBob the Musical. Order forms are available here: https://www.iroquoiscsd.org/domain/157. Orders are due May 26th. Our musical was professionally recorded by Candlelight Studios.
School Nurses
Wednesday May 10th is National School Nurse Day. Nurses play an integral role in our schools. Our dedicated nurses ensure all students’ wellbeing, safety, and academic ability. Thank you to all our nurses!
