May 17, 2024 - Principal's Message

Dear incoming II students and families,

Happy Friday!

We hosted two more main campus visits this week - Marilla 4th graders came on Monday and Elma 4th graders visited on Wednesday.  The students asked both practical and thoughtful questions, and walked away feeling good about what awaits them at Iroquois Intermediate in the Fall.  We are excited to have 3rd grade students from Wales in on Monday, May 20th and 4th graders from Wales in on Wednesday, May 22nd.  As your child attends their school visit, be sure to ask them what they liked and what they might have uncertainty about.  Change is difficult for many of us, so processing reasonable fears with your kids should become a normalized part of this transition.  As always, I am here to discuss any concerns you may have or to meet with you personally to make sure we get things right.

I also had an opportunity to meet again with our II PTO and I am excited to say that so many good things are in the works for the 2024-2025 school year.  As plans get firmed up and placed on the District calendar for next school year, we will be reaching out to ask for parent volunteers to help facilitate the list of amazing student activities.  Any good school leader will tell you there is tremendous value in the bond between the home and the school, and there are few better ways to facilitate that bond than by active parent/guardian involvement in school events.

Lastly, please remember to mark your calendars for Phase Two and Phase Three of the transition to the II.

  • II Transition Phase Two: Parent Orientation Meetings
    • Parents of 3rd graders - Tuesday, May 28th at 6:00 PM in the MS Auditorium
    • Parents of 4th graders - Tuesday, June 4th at 6:00 PM in the MS Auditorium

(Please feel free to attend either meeting, as the content will be very similar)

  • II Transition Phase Three: Open House
    • The II Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, September 3rd at 6:00 PM

If at any time throughout the process you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at or 716-652-3000 x5000.

In partnership,
Ryan Harding
