January 6 - Principal's Message
Greetings, Elma Primary Families!
We were happy to welcome students back this week and hear about their adventures over the winter break. Happy New Year to our families. We look forward to great things in 2023!
Earlier this week, we sent letters home to families regarding a parent session to share information on the Elementary K-4 Personal Safety Program that we will again present in our elementary schools this winter and spring. Please review the letter for details regarding the presentation, which will take place on Tuesday, January 10th in the High School Cafeteria, and if you have any questions regarding the program, feel free to reach out to our School Counselor, Mrs. Aroune.
A reminder that our PTO will host a meeting in the Elma Primary Cafeteria at 6:15 on Wednesday, January 11th. We will be discussing plans for winter and spring events and activities. All are always welcome to attend.
Beginning next week, we will have after school clubs running at Elma Primary! We are excited to offer 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders the opportunity to be a part of our Book Club, run by Mrs. Harvey and Mrs. Orrange. The first Book Club meeting will be held after school next Wednesday, January 11th. Mr. Staebell will also be offering a Chess Club for our 3rd grade students. The first Chess Club meeting will be after school on Thursday, January 12th. More detailed information will be coming to families from our club advisors.
With our return from the holidays, a number of our students have shared that they received smart devices, watches, and phones as gifts. A reminder from our handbook, that if students must have a phone at school, we ask that phones are turned off and put away for the duration of the school day. Also, we ask that students with smart watches only use them as watches during the school day, refraining from communicating with them or taking pictures. We appreciate your support at home to help us to keep the focus on learning and provide a distraction-free, safe environment for all of our students.
Thank you as always for your support, and have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Pete Dobmeier
